2025 Fire Chief Posting
The Central Cass County Fire Protection District is seeking an innovative, community-oriented leader ready to lead the fire district as the next Fire Chief!
This is the lead managerial position responsible for the protection of lives and property by leading the day-to-day operations of the fire department and its associated personnel. This is accomplished by serving as the executive manager and commander of the fire department. Duties include directing employees, planning and improving departmental operations, maintaining fire equipment, promoting fire safety, responding to alarms when needed, preparing and managing the Department budget, and working alongside the elected public officials of the fire district to provide the vision for future strategic planning.
The incoming Fire Chief will help chart a course for the fire district as we look to expand our mission and service delivery within the community. Opportunities awaiting the new Chief include:
- Implementation of strategic plan setting future direction for the success of the department specifically geared toward community paramedicine
- Continued emphasis on community engagement and public service into the culture and values throughout the organization starting with newest members to our most tenured employees.
- Strengthening the overall service delivery of the fire district through developing and retaining employees, fostering positive community service involvement and utilizing industry best practices and cutting-edge technology to better serve our constituents.
The salary range for this position is negotiable up to $105,000, depending on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. Initial review of applications will take place after the job posting closure on December 31, 2025
What You Bring to the Role:
- This position requires a bachelor’s degree in EMS, Fire Science or closely related field required.
- At least ten (10) years of related experience, including training in Fire Protection Technologies required.
- Fire-based EMS ALS transport background preferred.
- Candidates must also possess the following licenses/certifications:
- Valid Class E Missouri Driver License or Kansas Class B Driver’s license (or obtain within 90 days of hire)
- Valid State of Missouri EMT B or higher certification
