Students & Ride-Alongs
The Ride-Along Program of the Central Cass County Fire Protection District is designed to provide an opportunity for residents and/or students to observe fire and rescue operations and become familiar with prevention practices, emergency services, response, training, and fire service culture.
The district requires that all participants be neatly attired while riding with our firefighters/paramedics during a shift. The accepted mode of dress is closed-toe shoes (preferably dark colored or black), a blue or black shirt/blouse, blue or black pants, and a jacket/coat when applicable. A vest will be provided for the participant to wear while observing an incident and/or training. Seatbelts will be worn at all times while on any district vehicle. As a student participant, you are required to wear your assigned school uniform set forth by the institution.
Participants are asked not to leave the fire apparatus or ambulance unless they are permitted to do so by the officer-in-charge or paramedic. This policy is necessary to protect participants from any potential risk of bodily harm, no matter how remote, as they may not become involved verbally or physically with any operation. The role participants play is strictly that of an observer, unless they are an EMT/Paramedic student riding a rotation to meet school ride time requirements. In this case, the student shall operate under the direction of a CCCFPD Paramedic who operates within our protocols approved by our Medical Director.
Any citizen or individual requesting to do a ride-along is required to fill out a CCCFPD Ride-Along form. Students are not required to fill out the ride-along form for clinicals; however, if a student wishes to ride-along outside of clinical hours, a ride-along form must be filled out. Students who are on a ride-along rather than a clinical will not be allowed to perform clinical skills, nor will they be allowed to document clinical contacts. The ride-along form must be brought to the Central Cass County Fire Protection District Headquarters at 2507 SE Outer Rd. in Harrisonville, MO. The ride-along form must be approved by a CCCFPD Officer before you will be allowed to ride out with the crews.
